Don't get me wrong...I LOVE watching TV. But some serials are just downright stupid and I've stopped watching all the crap inundating channels, especially the Hindi ones. Like the "K" serials... I don't know what's happening in them and I don't care. There, of course, used to be a time, maybe over 5 years ago when I actually gave a shit about whether Kumkum and Sumit were falling in love, whether Anurag and Prerna were about to fall into Komolika's trap or not... But now? OMG, there is PURE bullshit (even more so than what was there 5 years ago) on the Indian screen.

Anyways, what I wanted to blog about was this ad I keep seeing (I forget which channel...either Star or Sony) called 'Grihasthi' (which means 'household', I think). This is WITHOUT A GRAIN OF DOUBT, the most ridiculous and regressive ad for a serial I have EVER seen in recent times.
It shows 3 girls going to their grandma and telling her that they passed in school/college/whatever and asking what happens next. NEXT SCENE, they're in the kitchen while their grandma and 2 other ladies hand them kitchen utensils and cutlery and tell them now it's time to learn how to take care of the kitchen. And now comes the most AWFUL line I've ever heard: this lady says (and here is my translation), "This is how tradition is. The men handle the outside world while us women take care of things inside the house and this is the secret to a happy household".

We take care of the house...fine... that's not all we do, you know. And men aren't supposed to contribute to anything inside the house to make it happy? Who the **** wrote the bloody dialogues? Must be a man.

Feeding male ego much?

Well ... no it wasn't Superman ...

Since my camera is working now (thank you Stained for the batteries...and yes, I know it's an OLD digicam, just 3.2 MP yada yada yada, but it's working now, so that's enough for the moment) I'm back to taking loads of pictures again.

I took this one at the edge of Sharjah from the Emirates Road and I know it may not be too clear, but all those black spots in the picture... are birds! There were so many... many many MANY more than what I managed to get in this pic.

I was driving through Al Wasl road the day after the heavy rains (so that would put it on Wednesday, the 16th of this month) and I saw a yellow Mercedes in the other lane. It was an SLK 200 as I recall and even though I recognized it was an older model, it's still a sports car right??? Soooo I got curious and looked inside the car. OMG...the biggest case of midlife crisis I'd ever seen was in that car! What's with older men wanting sports cars? Hahaha... maybe I'm being mean, but this almost bald old and oily looking man was driving the car...and he looked terribly out of place. I moved on. ;)

On the same day, in Karama, I was stuck in traffic so to alleviate my boredom, I was looking outside my car at my surroundings. This guy in a car next to me... it was a very dirty looking grey Lancer... rolled down his window and SPAT for all he was worth! It was supremely DISGUSTING. Why must men spit like that??? If any men have any explanations, I'd be glad to hear this one!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: MY ROOM IS FREEZING!!! Stained I said I looked like a grandma when I took a pic of myself all bundled up completely resplendent with pink mittens and a woolly hat!!! I disagree... I think I look like a cute kid :P

I LOVE shopping. I think I speak for a majority of women when I say that shopping is a temporary no doubt, but a 100% effective cure for bad or upset moods. I can only say that two weeks back when I blew almost 400 bucks in just one shop that had a sale, I went home terribly happy :D
Can't wait to wear all my new clothes!!!

I didn't expect to get hurt this way... I guess I never saw it coming, and after all, why should I have? I just didn't expect to get hurt like this ... that's all ...

I suppose that's why some of my well-wishers tell me never to expect anything from anyone...coz then you won't be disappointed. Sad that I have never been able to follow that. I always expect ... and look what happens.
